Fall at The Sinks
Great Smoky Mountains National Park
The Sinks is a popular and picturesque area located within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, known for its unique waterfall and swimming hole. The Little River, a prominent waterway in the park, carves its way through a narrow gorge, creating a series of cascades and pools.
At The Sinks, the river plunges dramatically over a rock ledge, forming a powerful waterfall. This waterfall is not particularly tall, but it is wide and forceful, creating a visually stunning scene as the water crashes into the pool below. The impact of the water has carved out a deep basin, giving the area its name, "The Sinks."

The surrounding environment is equally captivating. Towering trees, lush vegetation, and moss-covered rocks create a vibrant and verdant setting. In the fall, the vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows of the changing leaves enhance the beauty of the area, making it a particularly popular time to visit. The contrast between the colorful foliage and the cool, clear water is truly breathtaking.
The Sinks is easily accessible by a short paved trail, making it a popular destination for families and visitors of all ages. However, swimming in the sinks is not allowed.
